Transfer Certificate Translation Rejected — 2026 Fix for Russia MBBS Students (Certified Translation Services)

Transfer Certificate Translation Rejected — 2026 Fix for Russia MBBS Students (Certified Translation Services)
INDIA → RUSSIA MBBS 2026 · NOTARIZED TRANSLATION WITH SEAL

Your Transfer Certificate Was Rejected by the Russian University

Because it was issued in Malayalam, Tamil, or Hindi — and Russian universities require a notarized translation (often into Russian) with a seal.

You cleared marksheets, migration, bonafide, character — then the university asked for one more: your School Leaving / Transfer Certificate.

"Your Transfer Certificate is in a regional language. We need a notarized translation — and for transfers, an Equalization Certificate from the Ministry of Education."

The Problem

What Is a Transfer Certificate — and Why Russia Demands It Translated

A Transfer Certificate (TC) — also called School Leaving Certificate or Conduct Certificate — is issued by your previous school when you leave to join a new institution. For MBBS in Russia, it proves you completed your schooling and are eligible to enrol. Every Indian state board — Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, West Bengal, Maharashtra, UP — prints it only in the regional language.

Russian universities do not read Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, or Hindi. They require a notarized translation — and for many institutions, that translation must be into Russian, stamped by a notary who works in Russian (HSE University explicitly states this).

Real rejection story (2026 intake):

A student from Thrissur submitted her Transfer Certificate in Malayalam. The Russian university's international office flagged it during credit evaluation in March 2026 — admission was put on hold until she produced a notarized English translation with seal. Because she was a transfer applicant, she also needed an Equalization Certificate from the Ministry of Education of Russia, which required the TC translation as supporting evidence.

The Rules (2026)

Russian University & Ministry Requirements — What Has Changed

Based on 2025–2026 admission cycles, the requirements for Indian applicants have tightened:

  • Notarized translation required — CertOf (April 2026) confirms foreign diplomas, transcripts and school certificates for Russian admission "often need a notarized translation into Russian, not just a standard certified translation."
  • Russian-language notary for top universities — HSE University states: "to certify the translation, a notary must use the Russian language," and recommends translation at the Russian embassy/consulate.
  • Equalization Certificate for transfers — students transferring into a Russian university (e.g. from Ukraine) must obtain an Equivalency/Equalization Certificate from the Ministry of Education of Russia; the TC translation is core evidence.
  • EES portal digital verification (2026) — universities scan and upload notarized translations to the Russian Electronic Education System; unverified regional-language scans are auto-flagged.

Resubmitting the original Malayalam/Tamil TC does not fix it. You need a notarized translation (English or Russian, sealed), then — for transfers — the Equalization Certificate built on that translation.

How to Get Your Transfer Certificate Certified — Step by Step

1

Collect original TC from your previous school / board

Request the original in regional language. If the school offers an English version, take it too — but translation is still required for Russia.

2

Notarized translation (English or Russian) + seal

We translate from Malayalam / Tamil / Telugu / Bengali / Hindi / Marathi into certified English or Russian, with notary seal on every page.

3

Transfer? Apply for Equalization Certificate (MoE Russia)

For credit transfer, submit the notarized TC translation to obtain the Equivalency Certificate from the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.

4

Scan 300 DPI, upload + carry originals for visa

Upload the notarized translation to the university's EES portal. Keep physical originals for the embassy visa interview.

FAQ — 8 Questions

Common Questions About Transfer Certificate Translation

Q: Is a Transfer Certificate the same as a School Leaving Certificate?

A: In India they are effectively the same document — proof you left your previous school. Russian universities accept either, provided it is notarized and translated.

Q: Can I submit the original Malayalam / Tamil TC without translation?

A: No. Russian universities reject regional-language originals. A notarized translation (English or Russian) with seal is mandatory.

Q: Do Russian universities need Russian or English translation?

A: Most accept notarized English. Top universities like HSE require the notary to work in Russian — we offer Russian-language notary for those cases.

Q: How long does certified TC translation + notary take?

A: Standard: 1–3 business days. Express 24-hour delivery is available for $9.99 extra during admission deadlines.

Q: I'm a transfer student — do I need an Equalization Certificate?

A: Yes, if you are transferring into a Russian university. The Ministry of Education of Russia issues it, and your notarized TC translation is required evidence.

Q: Does the notary seal need to be from the same state as my school?

A: Not necessarily. For Russian universities, the notary language matters more than location. Our Russian-language notary option meets HSE's requirement.

Q: Will the university accept a scanned notarized translation?

A: Yes — for the 2026 intake, universities accept 300 DPI scanned notarized translations via the EES digital portal. Physical originals are needed for the visa interview.

Q: How much does a Transfer Certificate translation cost?

A: From $6.99 per page. Notary seal +$4.99. Russian-language notary +$6.99. Express 24h +$9.99. Multi-document discounts available.
